The the Pearl River Mouth Tunnel of Shenjiang Railway has a total length of 13.69km. The shield tunnel of Lot 2 undertaken by China Railway Tunnel Bureau is 2930m long. The maximum underwater burial depth of the tunnel is 115m, and the maximum water pressure is 1.06MPa, which is equivalent to bearing 10.6kg pressure on an area the size of the nail cover. The strength exceeds 10 standard atmospheres. The tunnel geological conditions are extremely complex, and the lithology is complex and changeable, posing great challenges to equipment performance and construction technology. The the Pearl River Mouth Tunnel of Shenjiang Railway has set a record for the deepest undersea railway tunnel in China. The project construction faces three world problems, namely, ultra long distance, ultra-high water pressure and complex geology.
