The section tunnel from Pazhou Station to Beigang Park on the Pazhou Branch Line is 4366 meters long and constructed using a 13.65 meter large-diameter slurry balance shield machine. This is the first project in China to use a 13 meter large shield tunnel for extremely small turning curve radius excavation in composite strata. There are many risk sources, especially the construction difficulty of large-diameter shield tunnels, which ranks first in the entire line. 77% of the strata traversed by the shield tunnel in the interval are the fully weathered W4 granite strata, with significant differences in rock strength. It has crossed various risk points more than 30 times, making it the most complex and difficult shield tunnel in the construction environment of the Pazhou branch line. It has set a new record for 13 meter shield tunneling in composite strata with an extremely small radius curve of R500 meters and a 14 meter ultra large diameter steel sleeve receiving.
